9:00 – 10:15 Morning Plenary: Intersections

In leadership development work and cross-movement community organizing, one of the frequent criticisms is that (white cisgendered) gay men are often unaware of their own privileges and often are the ones who make the most assumptions about other movements. Many gay men are active in many different movements for equality. Where do other social and equality movements intersect or cross over the work we are doing in the gay men’s health movement? We cannot achieve success as an isolated movement, so what is the internal work we need to do as individual gay men and as a movement in order to be more effective allies for different movements?
